If you’re looking to freshen up the appearance of your home, and maybe add a little value while you’re at it, you don’t have to embark on a massive project. Small updates to fixtures and fittings can work wonders, and there’s a lot that you can do yourself.
Episode 7
You'd be surprised how little updates to fixtures and fittings can change the appearance of your home, and add value too.
There are little touches you can do yourself, without the help of a handyman, to smarten up your living space.
New handles on cupboards and drawers can make a big difference to updating a kitchen, or a piece of furniture, without going to a huge expense.
Think about first impressions.
A grand letterbox, modern house numbers, a new front door, and even a sculptural potted plant.
Change up your taps fans lights and blinds.
It could be more affordable to order your blinds online, and you can order them made-to-measure.
It's a small change, but it can look like you've renovated the whole house.

Freshen your fixtures and fittings
Getting a handle on it
Adding new handles to tired-looking cupboards and drawers is a great way to make them feel brand new. Best of all, it doesn’t have to mean a budget blowout; it’s a simple, affordable update that you can do yourself.
First impressions last
There’s never a bad time to give your home a facelift. Whether you’ve just moved in and want to put your own stamp on a place, or you’re thinking of selling and want to make sure your house is as visually appealing as possible, it pays to think about first impressions.
Is your letterbox looking a little tired? Could the numbers on the front of your house have some more street appeal? Do you have the budget for a new front door or a sculptural potted plant? Upgrading any or all of these things can make a big difference.
Small changes, big impact
Once you’ve taken care of those street-facing details, consider where else within your house you can upgrade a fixture or a fitting.
Things like taps, fans, and lights offer a perfect opportunity to introduce a fresh feel to a room. You could also consider adding new blinds, which can be more affordable online. These are often small changes, but they can make a big difference.
Review your home and contents insurance
If you’re investing in new fittings across your home, and maybe even sprucing up your garden, it can be a good time to review your home and contents insurance to make sure you’ve got the right level of cover.
