Why do you need Extras Cover?

Extras health insurance covers everyday services, such as a visit to the physio, chiropractor or a dental check-up. Natural therapies, which include remedial massage and acupuncture, are popular treatment options if you value complementary medicine. While at the premium end of our Extras, you can get cover for hearing aids and speech therapy.

With Suncorp Health Insurance Extras, depending on the cover you choose you can get 60% or 75% of the treatment cost back up to your annual limit. After you’ve picked a level of Extras Cover that suits your needs, you can select a level of Hospital Cover, give us a call us on 13 11 55.

What else do I need to know about Extras Cover?

Switching from another private health fund

We’ll recognise waiting periods you’ve already served for equivalent services with your current fund, which is great – it means you can claim straight away and not be disadvantaged for these services.

However, you may be required to serve a waiting period for benefits on your new private health insurance policy that aren't covered by your existing fund, including any increase in annual limits. Any benefit limits already used with your current health fund will apply to your Suncorp Health Insurance Policy. For more information call Suncorp Health Insurance on 13 11 55 or read the Policy Booklet.

How much do I get back when I claim Extras?

Depending on the level of Extras Cover you choose, you can get back up to 75% on Extras services that you claim. For example, if you have Suncorp Health Insurance Top Extras, you'll get 75% on the total cost for things like physiotherapy, until you reach the annual limit. The other three levels of Suncorp Health Insurance Extras covers have a percentage back of 60%.

What about out of pocket expenses?

Out of pocket expenses refer to the difference between what the insurer pays for and the total cost of the service or treatment you're getting. No matter what cover you have, it’s possible you’ll have to pay something toward the treatment or service.
