What’s covered for Minimum Benefits Payable?

Minimum Benefits Payable (MBP) means that we will pay the minimum amount of benefits that we are required to pay under the Private Health Insurance Act, to or on behalf of a customer for hospital treatment under a hospital cover. If you’re attending a Private Hospital for these services, there will be significant out-of-pocket costs. If a treatment important to you is listed as MBP, we recommend you consider a higher level of cover.

What’s excluded in Everyday Hospital?

Assisted reproductive services

Infertility investigations

Renal dialysis

Cosmetic surgery

Joint replacements

Procedures not covered by Medicare

Eye treatment & surgery

Obesity & weight loss surgery

Pregnancy & birth-related services

If you need cover for other procedures use our Compare Hospital Comparison to choose the right product for you.

Is this the right health cover for me?

Older singles – Margaret, 55

Margaret is beginning to think about her retirement, though for now she's still working four days a week as project manager at a large organisation. She wants to be healthy so that when she does retire she can look after her grandkids and play golf. She took out Everyday Hospital to ensure she's covered should she need treatment for services covered by her policy.

Families – Tania, 32 & James, 34 & Sara, 4 & Ben, 2

Tania is a district nurse and James is a business development manager. Their children, Sara and Ben, attend childcare most days of the week. Tania and James juggle kids, work, a mortgage, and the weekly shop between them. Busy with full-time work and their two kids, they chose Everyday Hospital so that if something happens to one of them, they’re covered should they need treatment for services covered by their policy.
