Health Insurance for seniors

Waiting periods

Available where there is a break in cover of 59 days or less. Waiting periods apply for services not currently covered, services with higher benefits, where waiting periods haven’t been fully served, or where you select a lower excess. Any benefit limits already used with your current fund will apply to your Suncorp Health Insurance policy.

Prioritise your health at any age

There’s more to life than worrying about your health as you get older. With private health insurance, you can rest easy knowing you have access to quality healthcare when you need it.

As well as taking the worry out of getting the best care — and being able to pay for it if you need to go to hospital — you can be covered for the regular services you use to keep your health in check, like a dental check-up or a visit to your chiro.

Suncorp Health Insurance will even take the stress out of switching by doing the paperwork for you. Plus, if you’re switching from a policy that has an equivalent cover or a higher level of benefits, you won’t have to re-serve any waiting periods. You can chat about which cover might be right for you by calling one of our dedicated specialists on 13 11 55.

Medicare Levy Surcharge

The Medicare Levy Surcharge (MLS) is a government tax on top of the normal Medicare Levy and impacts singles with a taxable income of over $93,000 or families (including couples and single-parents) with a taxable income of over $186,000 who don’t have an appropriate level of private hospital insurance for the full financial year.

Holding any AAMI Health Insurance Hospital Cover product means you won’t pay the MLS if your income is above the government threshold and you maintain your hospital cover for the full financial year.
