Plan ahead with the 3x3 plan

Here are some suggested ideas about preparing for a cyclone (general information only)

3 weeks

This is your yearly cyclone home service. Kick it off on November 1st, the start of cyclone season, each year.

  • Clean gutters and trim trees.
  • Repair fences, roofs and other loose items.
  • Prepare your cyclone ready kit (restock if necessary), your evacuation plan and know your shelter options.

3 days

This is when you ask, ‘Am I really ready for a cyclone in 3 days? Could I survive for 3 days without help?’

  • Secure and brace external doors and windows and items that could fly away.
  • Check up on family, friends and neighbours.
  • Stock up on essentials and have your cyclone ready kit nearby.

3 hours

This is when you put your plan into action and all that preparation pays off.

  • Take shelter.
  • Tune into warnings on TV, radio and online.
  • Stay safe!
