I’m moving interstate – do I need to transfer my CTP?
Your CTP insurance stays with the registered vehicle, so once you transfer the registration into the new owner’s name on the certificate of insurance, the CTP will be transferred as well.
Your CTP insurance stays with the registered vehicle, so once you transfer the registration into the new owner’s name, the CTP will be transferred as well. If you live in NSW, QLD or ACT, you have the option to choose your insurer and CTP protects any third party that’s injured or suffers vehicle damage if an accident occurs. If you move to NSW, Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance is called a ‘greenslip’ and is a legal requirement for all registered vehicles. When you purchase a new or used vehicle from interstate, it is important to make sure the registration is transferred into your name so that you are covered in the unfortunate case of an accident.
