Jewellery and watches
COVERED
Many of us have jewellery and watches that shine, sparkle, and are of sentimental value at home, so it’s nice to know they may be covered for loss or damage due to an insured event. Find out more about cover for jewellery and watches under Suncorp’s Contents Insurance below.
What policy covers jewellery and watches
What’s covered
We cover loss or damage to watches and personal ornaments such as necklaces, rings or bracelets typically made from or containing jewels, precious metal caused by insured events. This includes antique jewellery.
We have flexible limits on these items – highlighted above. You are able to choose to increase this limit for an extra premium. When you do this, they are considered ‘Specified contents items’ and are shown on your certificate of insurance. The amount shown on your insurance certificate will be the most we will pay for any one incident for a specified contents item.
If you have valuable personal belongings that you usually carry with you away from your home, you can insure them for an extra premium for accidental loss or damage anywhere in Australia or New Zealand that occurs in and outside of your home with Suncorp’s ‘Personal valuables’ optional cover. This can be for specified or unspecified items. Each of these optional covers comes with limits, conditions and exclusions. You can find out more information in the Product Disclosure Statement.
Remember that when you lodge a claim on and item with a replacement value of over $3,000, we will ask for proof of purchase, a professional valuation and a photograph as a minimum.
What’s not covered
We don't cover jewellery boxes or uncut gems, unset gems, gold or silver nuggets, bullion, or ingots.
For more information on what is not covered, including other exclusions, limits and conditions that apply, read your Product Disclosure Statement.
