Does contents insurance cover carpets?

You’ll be glad to know Suncorp Contents Insurance provides cover for carpets and rugs if they’re damaged in an insured event – for example a flood, fire, storm^ or escape of liquid.
Just keep in mind cover limits apply to carpets or rugs that are hand-woven or hand-knotted, but you can choose to increase these for an extra premium.

Am I covered for accidental damage to my carpet?
Our ‘Accidental damage at home’ option provides cover for knocks, drops and spills that damage your carpet.
The stain from that spilled glass of red refusing to come out? Relax – just make a claim and leave the rest to us. Excess and exclusions apply, so read the PDS for more information.
Are other types of flooring covered by contents insurance?
If you live in a unit, floating floors and lino are covered under your Suncorp Contents Insurance policy, unless they are common property of the strata building according to relevant state or territory law (e.g. strata legislation). If you live in a strata title building, you may ask for a copy of the strata building insurance policy to know what you're covered for.
