PayTo – a new way to manage payments from an eligible bank account*

PayTo provides more visibility and control for payers than traditional direct debit agreements. It can help you manage outgoing payments to PayTo payees within the Suncorp Bank App.

Any current direct debit payments will be unchanged unless the payee under that direct debit arrangement informs you it will be migrating the direct debit to become a PayTo agreement. 

If you have an existing direct debit arrangement set up with a payee and they want to utilise PayTo, they may notify you that they plan to migrate your direct debit arrangement to become a PayTo agreement. In this case you will: 

• be notified by the payee 14 days in advance of the migration to PayTo 
• have the option to opt out - if you do not want your direct debit to become a PayTo agreement you must advise the payee promptly before migration occurs
• be notified by us via email once your direct debit has switched to a PayTo agreement - we will not seek your authorisation for the migration

Please note that any payments relating to your new PayTo agreement can’t be processed until 5 days after your direct debit has migrated to PayTo.

If the linked account for your direct debit is not a PayTo eligible account then the PayTo agreement will not be activated upon migration and payments will not be made under the PayTo agreement. We will notify you if this is the case and advise you of your options. 

The payee will be notified and the PayTo agreement will not be applied to your account, meaning the payee will be unable to debit payments from your account. If you decline an agreement by mistake, you can contact the payee and ask them to send a new PayTo authorisation request.

You can find and manage your PayTo agreements in the Suncorp Bank App: 

1. Tap on the ‘cog wheel’ at the top left corner of the Account tab. 
2. Select ‘PayTo’. 

From here you’ll see an overview of all your active, pending and paused PayTo agreements. You can select any of these PayTo agreements to see a detailed view, including the amount, frequency and linked account.

Only one person is required to authorise a PayTo agreement on a joint account.

However, PayTo is only available on joint accounts where either party can access funds without the express permission of the other account holder(s). 

If your joint account requires 2 or more persons to sign to withdraw from the account you will not be able to establish PayTo agreements in connection with that account. 

If your account requires 2 or more persons to sign to withdraw from the account you will not be able to establish PayTo agreements in connection with that account.

Once you’ve authorised your PayTo agreement, you can change the linked account or Pay ID to another eligible account or PayID that you hold with us. You can do this in the Suncorp Bank App:   

1. Tap on the ‘cog wheel’ at the top left corner of the Accounts tab.  
2. Select ‘PayTo’. 
3. Select the PayTo agreement you want to change. 
4. Scroll to the ‘Linked Account' section and click the pen icon to change the linked account. 
5. Select the account you wish to change to and click ‘Update’ in the top right.

For any other changes to your agreement, you’ll need to contact the payee. They can then generate an amendment through their financial institution and we will notify you to authorise or decline the amended PayTo agreement in the Suncorp Bank App. 

Amendment requests which are not authorised or declined by you within 5 calendar days of being sent to you, will expire.

If this happens, your existing payment terms under the PayTo agreement will not change. We are not able to vary the details in an amendment request submitted by the payee so you should contact the payee to discuss the amendment if it is incorrect.

Pausing or cancelling a PayTo agreement means that the payee will no longer be able to debit your account. This may impact the contract or subscription you have with the payee.

Before pausing or cancelling payments under a PayTo agreement you should always check your separate contract with the payee to see if pausing or cancelling is permitted and whether you would still have payment obligations to them. Suncorp Bank accepts no liability to you and will not be held responsible where you have asked us to pause or cancel a PayTo agreement and this action is in breach of the terms and conditions of your separate contract with the payee. 

To raise a dispute you should either: 

• Contact the payee directly 
• Contact us
• or visit your nearest Suncorp Bank branch

There are no daily limits on the number of PayTo agreements that can be established or on the amount that can be paid under PayTo agreement. 

If there is an existing stop placed on the direct debit and it is migrated to become a PayTo agreement, the stop will not apply under the PayTo agreement, and payments will resume. 

However, if you want the stop on payments to the payee to remain in place then there should be opportunities for you to do this. You should be able to opt out of the migration by notifying the payee or, if migration has occurred, you can pause or cancel the PayTo agreement at any time within the Suncorp Bank App or by contacting us. Payments under the PayTo agreement cannot start coming out of your account until five days after it’s been migrated.

If a payee decides to migrate your direct debit to a PayTo agreement they should notify you in writing at least 14 days before the migration. You can opt out of the migration but you must advise the payee promptly after receiving their notice.

All Suncorp Bank accounts which are enabled to make Osko fast payments are eligible for PayTo, excluding accounts which require 2 or more persons to sign to withdraw from the account.
