Cash Passport FAQs
Cash Passport can be ordered and/or loaded at any Suncorp Bank store or on our Cash Passport webpage.
Cash Passport loads can be processed via BPAY or debit card.
Cash Passport is a prepaid travel money card. You can use Cash Passport to pay for goods and services, online and in-store, at millions of locations worldwide (anywhere that Mastercard is accepted).
By purchasing a new card or reloading an existing card at a Suncorp store, you will be charged a $15 administration fee for each load. This fee is not charged if you purchase or reload a Cash Passport online (however there are additional charges for payment such as BPAY or debit card).
For a full list of fees and charges, please refer to the Important Information webpage.
You will be able to use your card anywhere Mastercard is accepted.
Yes. Your Cash Passport can be used at ATMs, pay merchants or pay your final bill onboard most cruise ships.
However, Cruise Ships often charge a security bond by pre-authorising your card to cover incidentals, similar to hotels. Such pre-authorised funds cannot be used whilst onboard or until those funds are released by the cruise company (sometimes for up to 30 days after the cruise has finished).
Therefore, it’s suggested that you use another means of payment (such as a credit card) to cover any such pre-authorised amounts.
You can spend with confidence knowing your card is chip, PIN and signature secured; giving you added security against fraud. Cash Passport is not linked to a bank account, so it’s a great option for making purchases overseas or online.
You can reload your Cash Passport online or in a Suncorp store. Even with a zero balance, your Cash Passport is still valid (up to the expiry date on the card), and you can reload it for your next trip anytime.
Cardholders are issued with statements every six months, as set out in the terms and conditions of the Cash Passport card. You can also view and monitor your recent and past transactions via 'my account'.
Should you find any transactions on your statement that are not authorised or which you wish to question further, please read ‘how do I dispute a transaction on my Cash Passport?'.
The MasterCard Prepaid Management Card Services team that can provide 24/7 global emergency assistance if you lose your Cash Passport, have it stolen or be unable to access your money. To contact global emergency assistance Card Services team, click here.
The Card Services team can organise replacement cards and if necessary, start the procedure for disputing unauthorised transactions while arranging funds (up to the balance on your card) to be directly sent to you.
Usually the funds can be sent to you within 2 hours, though it could be up to 24 hours for more remote locations.
If you decide you no longer want to continue using your Cash Passport, you can opt to cash out and have the funds returned to you.
Simply go to the Cash Out page and complete the form. Please note that a $10 cash out fee applies.
HINT: Instead of cashing out, some people keep the money on their card and use for online purchases from overseas. Often a great way to reduce exchange fees and save money when buying online.
‘Card to card’ gives Cash Passport cardholders the ability to instantly transfer money from one Cash Passport to another, in both Australia and New Zealand, across currencies of your choosing.
