Emergency repairs and other repair/rebuilding costs
COVERED
There are certain miscellaneous costs associated with repairs or rebuilding that can go beyond nails and timber. Here is more information on the cover for emergency repairs and other repairs/rebuilding costs under Suncorp Home Insurance.
What policy provides covers?
What's covered?
When the home or parts of the home have been damaged in an incident, we’ll cover the reasonable and necessary costs of any temporary work required to make your damaged home safe from further immediate loss or damage.
When you are covered for loss or damage to the home at the insured address, we’ll cover the reasonable and necessary costs for:
- the services of professionals such as architects or surveyors
- removing debris that caused the damage and is required in order to repair the home, including fallen trees or branches
- demolishing and removing damaged parts of the home, but that aren’t part of the scope of works, from the insured address, and
- ensuring the damaged parts of your home comply with current building regulations and laws. Limits and conditions apply.
What's not covered?
We don’t cover the costs of removing debris that hasn’t damaged the home, such as fallen trees or branches, or lopping trees or branches that haven’t damaged the home. We also don’t cover the costs of making the home comply with current building regulations and laws if it wasn’t compliant when the home was originally built or when construction, repairs, renovations, or alterations were undertaken.
There are other exclusions to this cover, which you can learn more about in the Product Disclosure Statement.
