Australia is famous for its wildlife, with some creatures being particularly infamous for their cheekiness. Unfortunately, there are instances where these cheeky critters become accidentally trapped inside your home and run amok, and cause damage. Thankfully, there are instances where Suncorp Insurance can cover this loss or damage.
What policy covers damage by an animal?
What’s covered
You may be covered if your home or contents suffer loss or damage that’s caused by an animal when it either:
- becomes accidentally trapped inside the home or unit, or
- is inside the home or unit, and you didn’t know, or a reasonable person in the circumstances couldn’t have known, it was there.
What’s not covered?
There are instances when you are not covered if the damage or loss is caused by:
- any animal owned by you or that you’re responsible for
- any animal allowed onto the insured address by you or anyone living at the insured address
- insects, vermin, or rodents (unless covered under ‘Fire (including bushfire)’ or ‘Escape of liquid’).
