New Payments Platform (NPP) and Fast Payments via Osko
We have been improving our digital payment offerings for Suncorp Bank customers. Moving to an increasingly cashless society, we understand our customers need to be able to transfer money online, to accounts at other banks, fast.
NPP is an industry-wide initiative, Australia’s newest way to enable transferring of money between participating banks in near real-time.
PayID makes sending and receiving payments simpler by using easy-to-remember information, such as a mobile number or email address, linked to your bank account. A PayID can be used instead of a BSB and Account Number to make and receive payments.
PayID isn’t available on the Suncorp App yet but over the last year we’ve been improving our digital payment offerings and we’re working on delivering PayID to our customers.
First, we check in near real-time if the BSB you’ve entered is enabled for fast payments via Osko. If it is, you can enter a description of up to 280 characters including emojis.
When you select Pay Now, we check in near real-time if the account you are paying is eligible to receive fast payments via Osko.
Yes, normal transaction limits apply to your accounts and these are set out in the Suncorp App Terms and Conditions. Osko and NPP won’t alter your existing transaction limits. However during your Osko fast payment you may be prompted to use the Suncorp Secured App to make transfers safer and protect your account against fraud.
Most personal and business everyday and savings accounts will be able to send and receive fast payments.
Transferring money continues to be as safe as it is today – with the same level of security that protects your existing accounts and payments.
No, fast payments can only be sent between Osko eligible accounts using the Suncorp App. Payments from Internet Banking and the Suncorp Bank mobile app will continue to be processed as they are now so please allow 1-2 business days for those payments to be received.
Personalised messages up to 280 characters, including emojis, can be viewed in the Suncorp App.Internet Banking, the Suncorp Bank mobile app and statements will show a shorter description without emojis and some special characters and are likely to include a space or question mark in place of the missing emojis and characters.
In addition to personalised messages, Osko payments made from business accounts can include additional information such as a reference number or invoice number in the optional End-to-End Identifier field. When it’s included by the sender, the details can be seen in transaction details in the Suncorp App, Internet Banking and the Suncorp Bank mobile app.
Future-dated or recurring payments and Business Payment Credits won’t be sent as fast payments via Osko and will continue to be processed as they are now.
