Home Hacks – Episode 10
There’s something about plants that just adds life to a room.... And if you’re a lover of the outdoors, you’ll feel even more at home with a little green in your living areas.
Here are a few affordable ways to bring the outdoors in.
Instead of buying new flowers every week, try adding indoor plants.
If you’re concerned about light you can alternate two plants - having one inside and one outside at a time.
There are so many options - hanging plants can look great too.
A hidden saucer inside the pot is more visually appealing - purchase a decorative pot one size bigger than the potted plant to achieve this.
Use cuttings from your garden in vases and drape en mass for a feature effect.
Terrariums have made a big comeback and could be a fun project to create with the family too.
Indoor plants can also be great to lighten up work spaces.

Bringing the outdoors in
Forget the flowers
Freshly cut flowers can be a great way of adding life and colour to a space, but they quickly lose their lustre, and need to be thrown out and replaced.
Adding indoor plants can add a similar feeling, but – if you look after them – they can last a lot longer and provide years of gorgeous greenery. If you’re worried about not having enough light to sustain a plant, you can try alternating; keep one inside and one outside, swapping them from time to time.
If you have outdoor plants, especially ones with large, distinctive leaves, you can bring cuttings inside and drape them en masse for a striking feature effect.
Picking the perfect pot
How you present your plants can make a big difference to how they feel in your space. Hanging plants can be a great option, and there are a wide variety of plant pots in a range of sizes and style to choose from.
If you purchase a decorative pot one size bigger than the potted plant you want to display, you can keep a hidden saucer inside it, which can keep things looking neat and be more visually appealing.
Terrariums are also a fun way of displaying certain plants. They could even be a fun project to create with the family.
