How secure is an Apple Pay transaction?
Your card in Apple Pay is protected by your Apple device security settings. Every transaction on iPhone, iPad or Mac requires you to authenticate with either Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode. Apple Watch is protected by a passcode and is required each time you wear it.
Your plastic card details are not shown in the Wallet app or shared with the merchant when you make payments in store, via an app or online with Safari.
When you pay within apps or Safari, the merchant will only receive information such as your name, email address, billing and shipping addresses that you authorise to share to fulfil your order.
For added protection against fraud, if you remove your device passcode, disable Face ID or Touch ID, or sign out of iCloud, all cards will be removed from Apple Pay on the device.
In addition, Suncorp monitors your transaction activity 24/7, to identify any unusual behaviour..
