Financial Basics Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation with a vision that all young Australians are financially capable and can manage their finances now and into the future. Together, we want to build a nation of money-confident kids.

Financial Basics Foundation has developed an online game called ESSI Money (Earning, Spending, Saving & Investing) which is available to all Australian high schools. 91% of students say that playing ESSI Money is a fun way to learn about financial issues and 90% believe that it has helped them gain a deeper understanding about making good financial decisions*

We asked a group of Australian kids and teens what they would do with $100? The answers might surprise you! Suncorp has partnered with Financial Basics Foundation to help support the financial literacy of Aussie kids.
One hundred dollars!
Oh my gosh.
Riiiiich.
I would probably spend it on...
Make-up.
Some clothes.
Pencil cases.
Spend it all on books.
Slap bands, watches, headphones.
Probably a new tutu.
Always spend it on games.
Shirts.
An iPad.
I'd probably buy as many chocolates as I could.
A new handbag.
I'd probably buy swimmers.
Everything.
I would spend it for Disneyland.
Every time we go to buy something I think "Oh, what would Mum want me to do with the money?"
Give some to charity.
Mum and Dad have instilled in us to be good people and to give.
What would you do? Put it in my bank account?
I'd save some.
My Mum would like me to save it.
I do lots of chores to get my pocket money and save that.
You get five dollars? I get ten.
Washing the car.
Doing poo patrol.
Saving money just sounds more mature.
It is a stinky job.
Even if it's not my answer.
If we save a hundred dollars, Dad will give us a hundred back.
She's really, really good at saving. We might be selling the house.
She's a bit of a shopaholic, but I think it's a good shopaholic.
The minute he gets some money, he does not save it one bit.
[Laughs] Thanks mate!
Spend it, cause he likes spending.

Spend it on clothes.
[Laughs]
I didn't realize that she noticed what I do, as much.
We probably should be more mindful of the example that we're setting for him.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, that's all I can say.
It's made me realise it is actually a really important conversation.

Kids can save, borrow and set simulated money goals.
By Playing the game families can track progress together , learn about credit cards , interest rates, savings and of course learn from their mistakes too.
