Rare Opportunity For Young Beef Farmers To Learn From Industry’s Best
23 April 2015
Young and aspiring beef farmers will have a rare opportunity to learn from the best minds in the industry at The Beef Australia Next Generation Forum on Friday 8 May, 2015, hosted by Suncorp Bank.
The ticketed half-day forum will explore the ways young people can creatively pursue farm business management and business ownership, specific to the beef industry.
Suncorp Bank Head of Agribusiness, Troy Constance, said the forum aimed to encourage and inspire young farmers to become innovative and profitable producers.
“There are many issues confronting young people in the beef industry in Australia. For many, one of the biggest issues is how to start on their own or for those already in business, how to progress within the rural sector,” Mr Constance said.
“As Australia’s leading regional bank founded on a rich connection to agriculture, we are proud to support initiatives, like Beef Australia, which celebrate and highlight the importance of the agriculture industry.”
An inspiring line up of experienced industry leaders, including keynote speaker the Hon. Angus Taylor MP, will share first hand knowledge about what it takes to get started in the industry followed by a panel session lead by beef producer and author Alice Greenup.
Alice Greenup, whose work in the beef industry as an educator and advocate was recognised with the Young Beef Achiever of the Year Award in 2006, said the forum will inspire young farmers to think outside of the box.
“The intent of this forum is not focused on succession planning – it is more about the flexible, innovative things that producers can do to get a start in the industry,” Ms Greenup said.
“We will explore issues that face every business owner or manager in the beef industry including capital raising, equity partnerships, share-farming, and how to diversify income streams. This will be a must-attend event for any young person at Beef Australia.”
Beef Australia 2015 will be held from 4 to 9 May in Rockhampton, and will celebrate all facets of the Australian beef industry. Dating back to Australia’s bicentennial celebration in 1988, Beef Australia has grown to become the cattle industry’s national exhibition, attracting more than 85,000 people from across Australia and around the world.
