A brighter future
"We are committing to driving towards sustainability and delivering profit with purpose."
—Clive van Horen, CEO, Suncorp Bank
Reaching net zero
Building futures and protecting what matters are at the core of our response to the challenge of climate change. We have committed to a range of actions to accelerate the reduction of our own greenhouse gas emissions:
- By 2025, Suncorp Bank will be powered by 100% renewable electricity across our operations.
- By 2050, we will reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions across our operations.
Creating a brighter future together
Building financial resilience
Our Everyday Essentials Acccount is a day-to-day transaction account for lower-income customers and concession and health care card holders. It’s designed to make banking accessible for everyone.
Since 2016, we have partnered with the Financial Basics Foundation to help build a nation of money-confident kids. The ESSI Money Game (Earning, Spending, Saving & Investing) is available free to all Australian high schools and families, giving kids a fun way to learn how to make smarter financial decisions.
We also continue to take a proactive approach to identifying customers in vulnerable situations and addressing the underlying issues that contribute to vulnerability. Learn how we’re supporting our most vulnerable customers.

Rewarding customers’ commitments to sustainability
We want to help customers choose more environmentally-friendly options for their homes — and our new Solar Home Bonus can recognise and reward that commitment.
If you take out a new eligible home loan or refinance your existing home loan to Suncorp Bank, you may be eligible to receive $3,000 if the property has an eligible solar power system* (for loans >= $500K, LVR<=90%, excludes refinance of existing Suncorp Bank loans or loan pre-approvals).
If you have an existing home loan with Suncorp Bank and that home has an eligible solar power system, or if you have solar installed on that home by December 31, 2021, you may be eligible to receive $500.#
We’re inspired by you.
At Brisbane’s Scout Café, sustainability and simplicity have been key to building a thriving business. We’re proud to support local businesses and we’re inspired by the amazing people behind their success, like Scout’s Susannah Whitehorse.
Learn more about Scout Café owner Susannah Whitehorse and her commitment to growing a sustainable business.
Voiceover of Susannah Whitehorse, Scout Café owner:
“One of the reasons I wanted to open a business was I'd always worked in hospitality and it was just time to do it for myself.
When we opened on day one, I had no idea what it was going to be like or whether or not we'd still be here. But from the beginning I think the Petrie Terrace community really accepted Scout and encouraged us.
The building itself had been empty for 16 years so they were really ready for something. To have them embrace it the way they did was everything. It enabled us to get the ball rolling and get going.
At Scout, it's a bit more than good food with a coffee. We've definitely made that the basis of our service but we also try as much as possible to inject sustainable practices into our day-to-day running of the café.
We're selling reusable coffee cups and we try as much as possible to use local produce that's in season. We've got a really good relationship with our fruit and veg supplier Vasili. We can communicate with him really easily about what's going on in the markets, what we should get in what we should put on the menu. So we try to change the menu every three months, so we can always make sure everything's really in season and fresh.
And then we’ve been adding on other things like lovely raw local honey. It's really been popular. Dad's always had bees. He had so much honey for a while, he said, “you want to sell it in the café? And I thought it was perfect, so we've been selling it here for about two years.
Owning my own business is definitely the most challenging thing I’ve ever done but I wouldn't have it any other way. It gives you so much more freedom to grow and learn.
You're making all the decisions yourself. I feel really proud, really grateful I’ve sort of been living the life that I wanted with my own business and the successful café. It's been the best thing that's ever happened to me.”
Making bank cards better

- include special features to assist customers living with visual impairments
- be sent in a plastic-free, recyclable and biodegradable envelope.
Delivering strong payment and transaction account value

Suncorp Bank PayLater can be accessed with a physical and digital Visa Debit card, creating a better experience for customers shopping in-store or online.
Retailers and restaurants, many of whom are doing it tough due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, will appreciate that Suncorp Bank PayLater offers customers ‘buy now pay later’ convenience without adding extra cost to their businesses. Merchant fees for Suncorp Bank PayLater transactions will be the same as other Visa Debit card transactions. Learn more about Suncorp Bank PayLater.^
Suncorp has also announced a partnership with atmx, Australia’s newest ATM network, giving our personal and business transaction account customers even greater access to fee-free cash withdrawals and the ability to access over 2,000 ATMs across Australia.
Since 2020, Suncorp Bank has been proud to offer 0% foreign currency conversion fees2 on Visa Debit card3 purchases for customers with our Everyday Options and Everyday Essentials Accounts. This represents a potential saving of 3%4 on foreign currency transactions – and adds even more value to our ‘no monthly fee’ and ‘no transaction fees’ everyday accounts.
We recently asked our customers and communities to tell us what matters most to them, and how we can help them create a brighter future. Thanks for sharing your views!
In listening to your feedback, it’s more clear than ever the world has changed and your expectations have changed with it.
We’re challenging ourselves to find new and better ways to make a positive difference to your personal and financial wellbeing, and to helping all of us to drive towards a fairer, more sustainable society.
We look forward to continuing the conversation as we continue on our journey to create a brighter future, together.
