Comparison Rate
A Comparison Rate is a tool designed to help consumers identify the true cost of
a loan. This is because the Comparison Rate takes into account both the interest
rate and certain fees and charges relating to a loan, reduced to a single percentage
figure. The Comparison Rate does not include government charges, fees or duty. The
Comparison Rate also does not include fees and charges that are ‘event’ based and
may or may not be charged (eg. early payout fees). Such “event” based fees and charges
are not ascertainable when the comparison rate is disclosed.
WARNING: This comparison rate applies only to the example or examples given. Different
amounts and terms will result in different comparison rates. Costs such as redraw
fees or early repayment fees, and cost savings such as fee waivers, are not included
in the comparison rate but may influence the cost of the loan.
