I joined Suncorp after 23 years with KPMG, 11½ of those as a partner in Brisbane.

I was very excited about joining Suncorp. The bank was a major client of mine and I had some long-standing relationships with a number of Suncorp personnel and based on these I felt that Suncorp would be a "good fit" for me. I had always been impressed with the people, teamwork, service levels and turnaround times, and also the general culture of the bank

A change from accounting profession to banking was part of my strategic career plan and I am tremendously grateful for the opportunities Suncorp has offered me. I believed that joining Suncorp was a great career move for me. Being a major organisation and Queensland based was tremendously attractive, as was the ability to stay in the financial services sector. It also positioned me well for future professional board work in the later years of my working life. My existing board roles and networks were also valued and this focus on mutual business opportunities, strategic networking and supporting the community was important to me.

I was also motivated by my Manager's personal drive and commitment to equity and diversity in the workplace and particularly his desire to promote and support women (as well as men) in senior roles in banking and finance.

Since being "on the inside" I see tremendous opportunities for Suncorp and its staff, enhanced through the recent Promina merger. I see in Business Banking a real desire to move to a true customer focussed and performance based business model. There are incredible opportunities to drive superior financial performance by working across business lines and providing true strategic customer solution through innovation and strategic decision-making. From a staff perspective, Suncorp is very supportive in "growing its own" and providing people with the opportunities for personal growth by secondments, transfers and role changes. All of these facets are important to me in job satisfaction and "making a difference" through my work.

We have a great team in Corporate Banking which focuses on superior performance, teamwork and collaboration and having fun. It's a great place to work and with a great bunch of people.
