As a result of the Suncorp-Promina merger, Suncorp acquired a trans-Tasman suite of financial services brands now called Suncorp Life.
Suncorp Life’s core insurance business – under the brands of Suncorp and Asteron – provides life insurance and other risk protection products. Suncorp Life’s superannuation and investment management arms – under the brands of Suncorp and Tyndall – complement the insurance business by completing the full spectrum of wealth management products.
Suncorp Life provides life insurance (death, trauma and disability), superannuation (personal and employer-sponsored) and retirement products, managed investments (unit trusts and wrap service), and other risk protection products (such as mortgage and credit insurance).
Our multi-brand approach allows us to provide these products and services to more than 570,000 individual and small business customers through a number of channels. This includes 3,500 independent financial advisers and 377 aligned advisors across Australia and New Zealand, under the brands of Suncorp Financial Planning, Standard Pacific, Guardian Financial Planning, Guardian Trust (New Zealand) and Cameron Walshe. These subsidiaries specialise in financial advice, management of corporate and personal trusts, and estate planning.
In the half year to December 2008, Suncorp Life’s profit contribution to the Suncorp Group was $135 million after tax. Total funds under management across Australia and New Zealand were $23.4 billion.
