I started at Suncorp in February of 2007 as an IT Graduate. The “grad program” was structured such that it allowed me to rotate through different roles in IT.

I spent almost 6 months in one of the main Java development departments. This allowed me to get some real development experience in a large corporate organisation. I then moved on to 6 months in IT Security, where I discovered a passion for all things security related. My time there was mainly spent working in the cyber-crime division of their area. I rounded out my time as a graduate in Infrastructure Solutions. My time there was spent getting to understand how infrastructure works and how their operational model fits in with how the rest of IT works.

I couldn’t shake the passion I discovered in security, but didn’t want to give up the developer side of things either. This led to the role I am in now. I am a Designer back in the department I started in, with my focus on Application Security, which for me is the best of both worlds, and why I love what I do. The grad program gave me an excellent jump start to my career and I couldn’t be happier.
