Does contents insurance cover carpets?

You’ll be glad to know Suncorp Contents Insurance provides cover for carpets and rugs if they’re damaged in an insured event – for example a flood, fire, storm^ or escape of liquid.

Just keep in mind cover limits apply to carpets or rugs that are hand-woven or hand-knotted, but you can choose to increase these for an extra premium.

Am I covered for accidental damage to my carpet?

Our ‘Accidental damage at home’ option provides cover for knocks, drops and spills that damage your carpet.

The stain from that spilled glass of red refusing to come out? Relax – just make a claim and leave the rest to us. Excess and exclusions apply, so read the PDS for more information.

Are other types of flooring covered by contents insurance?

If you live in a unit, floating wooden floors and lino are covered under your Suncorp Contents Insurance policy, unless they are legally part of the unit building according to relevant state or territory law (e.g. strata legislation). If you live in a strata title building, ask for a copy of the strata building insurance policy to know what you're covered for.

Other types of flooring – like tiles or floating wooden floors –are generally covered under your Home Building Insurance policy.

Suncorp Health Insurance is issued by nib health funds limited ABN 83 000 124 381 (nib) a registered private health insurer and is marketed by Platform CoVentures Pty Ltd ABN 82 626 829 623 (PC), a Suncorp Group company. PC is an authorised agent of nib and receives commission from nib. Read the policy booklet before buying this insurance.

SUNCORP LIFE INSURANCE
Suncorp Life Insurance products, other than in some circumstances the Redundancy Benefit, are issued by TAL Life Limited ABN 70 050 109 450 AFSL 237848 (TAL Life) which is part of the TAL Dai-ichi Life Australia Pty Limited ABN 97 150 070 483 group of companies (TAL).
