Preparing for your appointment

Suncorp Financial Advisers are life insurance specialists, who will step you through a simple process designed to uncover your individual needs and find an appropriate level of protection for you and your family.

This process involves the following key stages:

 1. Fact Find      Your Suncorp Financial Adviser will ask you a series of questions in order to gain a picture of your current financial and personal situation. They will then consider the direction you can take to help ensure you and your family are prepared for the unexpected.
2. Product selection

Based on the Fact Find, your Suncorp Financial Adviser will recommend suitable products and levels of cover to help ensure you won’t face unnecessary financial stress should you ever need to make a claim.

3. Application & underwriting If you decide to proceed with the plan that has been recommended for you, your application form(s) will be lodged and our underwriting team will progress these applications as quickly as possible. This may involve liaising with doctors and specialists, and arranging necessary medical tests or reports.
4. Policy offer When the underwriting process is complete, many customers will be offered their selected policies on standard terms. However, if you have a pre-existing medical condition then you may either be declined or offered a policy with certain conditions, such as a ‘premium loading’ (increased premium) or ‘exclusion’ (of specific ailments).
5. Acceptance & implementation If you’re happy with Suncorp’s policy offer, we can then initiate the insurance cover on your behalf.


What to bring

To ensure your appointment goes as quickly and smoothly as possible, it’s best to come equipped with some basic information to assist with the Fact Find.

We’d suggest you bring along, or at least have a good idea of, the following information:

  • Your individual and family earnings
  • Your current mortgage and other debts
  • Details of significant investments such as shares, properties and term deposits
  • Details of your superannuation fund(s), including insurance held within the fund(s)
  • Any other personal insurance, including life, disability and trauma insurance
  • An outline of your medical and health history
