Suncorp leading in diversity

Suncorp has won national recognition for our leadership in workplace diversity, after being awarded the ‘Best Workplace Diversity Strategy’ at the 2013 Australian HR Awards. Matt Dowie, Diversity Manager (pictured left with Rachel Smith and Louise Dwyer), said ‘This is a great moment for Suncorp and really highlights the work that we’ve done over the past year to support a culture of inclusion where diversity of thought, lifestyle and background are encouraged.’

‘What sets our strategy apart is the level of innovation in our programs. We’ve seen some real success with our ongoing focus on flexible working arrangements with the Work@Home hubs, flexible leave options and job-sharing.’

The national award recognises excellence in the area of best diversity and inclusion initiatives and nominations are evaluated on how an organisation’s recruitment campaigns, internal communications, education campaigns and policies address diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Future focus

Whilst a large part of Suncorp Group’s diversity and inclusion strategy continues to focus on women in leadership, we are also seeking to increase employment opportunities for people with disability and mature aged workers.
