Suncorp Bank builds on its fee-free accounts

Suncorp Bank has maintained its leading position on fee-free banking by adding the Everyday Basics account to its fee-free portfolio.

The Kids Savings Account, 55 Plus account and eOptions account, all Canstar Five Star Rated, have never had account keeping fees. The popular Everyday Basics is also now fee-free.

Overdrawn fees have been cut from $40 to $10 on the 55 Plus and Everyday Basics accounts but customers rarely incurred these fees with a free overdraw. Suncorp was the first to introduce this. A free account sweep from 1 December will help customers avoid overdrawn fees altogether.

Suncorp Bank Manager, Tony Meredith, said Suncorp Bank had always appreciated that fees were public enemy number one for Australian consumers.

"We've always maintained a leading approach and customer-focussed view on fees. That's why we have better customer satisfaction than the majors," he said.

"It's important that we continue to offer our customers more ways to save. We'll also continue to proactively help them better manage their finances.

"Our internet banking and phone banking services have recently been voted number one by consumers nationwide. Our Kid's Account website is market leading and we're opening more branches. We'll continue to deliver leading services and products that help Australians build their personal wealth."

Suncorp is one of Australia and New Zealand's largest diversified financial services providers, supplying banking, insurance and wealth management products to around 7 million customers through well-established and recognised brands such as AAMI, Apia, Shannons, Vero, Asteron and Tyndall, as well as Suncorp and GIO.

Suncorp is Australia's fifth largest bank and second largest domestic general insurance group, with over 16,000 staff. Suncorp Bank has representation in 450 offices, branches and agencies throughout Australia.
