Road Safety
As part of Suncorp Insurance’s commitment to protecting Queenslanders and their way of life, we have developed the ‘Must-Have Safer Queensland Roads’ road safety education and awareness program that aims to improve road safety in Queensland. To help us in our mission to make Queensland roads safer, we have established the following partnerships:
Craig Lowndes
Craig Lowndes is the Suncorp Insurance Road Safety Ambassador. Lowndsey has 20 years of precision driving experience and is also a proud family man, who is passionate about keeping his family safe on the roads. As our Safer Roads Ambassador, Lowndsey provides regular ‘Tips from Team Lowndes’ with updates, tips and tricks on ways to keep safe on the roads.
Queensland Police Service
Suncorp Insurance partnered with the Queensland Police Service in 2011, investing $300 000 over 2 years to establish the Community Grant Scheme (Road Safety and Crime Prevention). In the first round of grants in 2011, $160 000 was awarded to 23 community projects aimed at improving road safety and reducing crime across Queensland. For more information on funded projects or for details on how to apply, please visit www.suncorp.com.au/saferroads. Applications for round 2 of the Community Grant Scheme will open in June 2012.
RYDA
RYDA is a not for profit organisation providing quality road safety education to youths before they commence driving. Suncorp has been a proud sponsor of RYDA since 2009, helping to deliver road safety education to around 10,000 Queensland teenagers each year. Suncorp Insurance also provides valuable assistance to the RYDA program with over 100 staff volunteering each year.
Fatality Free Friday
Suncorp Insurance has been a proud sponsor of the Fatality Free Friday Safety Foundation since 2008. The primary aim of the Foundation is to reduce road fatalities and injuries by delivering innovative road safety initiatives, advocacy, support for victims of road trauma and facilitation of road safety research. Suncorp Insurance supports Fatality Free Friday by raising awareness with staff, customers and in the broader community about the importance of road safety, and encouraging people to take the pledge to drive safely on Fatality Free Friday each year. In 2012, Fatality Free Friday will take place on 25 May 2012. To take the pledge please visit www.fatalityfreefriday.com
