Agribusiness
Suncorp Bank supports primary producers across the country - bringing a refreshing, responsive approach to banking. From the establishment in 1902 of The Agricultural Bank, Suncorp Bank has continued to cultivate deep, personal relationships with the rural community. We understand that working in agriculture can be unpredictable and challenging and having someone to take the stress out of managing finances is critical to people connected to the land.
As an Agribusiness graduate your skills and experience will be developed beyond the office trappings of a computer and telephone with the ideal place to meet clients and learn about their needs on their home properties. Through helping our rural customers achieve their financial goals you will develop an in-depth understanding of our Agribusiness product range and risk processes.

Why did you join Suncorp?
After completing my university degree I was keen to join the corporate world. Coming off a farm I wanted to be able to incorporate the valuable knowledge from university as well as everything I knew off the land. Suncorp’s graduate program suited everything that I was looking for by gaining exposure to multiple agricultural industries, while giving me the opportunity to develop in a well renowned and growing Bank.
Is life at Suncorp everything you thought it would be?
The stereotype of working in a bank of the same mundane things every day definitely doesn’t apply with Suncorp. Each day presents a new challenge and since joining Suncorp the levels of support have been fantastic, where the passion and commitment is transparent in all activities throughout the bank.
What have you been up to since you joined?
So far I have gained a greater understanding of how a bank works and its day-to-day roles; participated in regional field days and sponsored social days; meeting the clients at their properties; as well as completing a strategic review on how Suncorp can increase its lending and diversification within North Queensland.
What's the best thing that's happened to you since you've been at Suncorp?
I was given the opportunity to undertake and write a strategic report for new and emerging industries in North Queensland and then presented it at the Suncorp Agribusiness Gameplan Conference, in front of the Executive General Manager and the senior leaders.
What are some of the challenges you have faced?
Learning all the systems and processes as well as moving interstate from Victoria to Queensland, although everyone made me feel very welcome which definitely helped in the move.
In three words, how would you describe your team?
Energetic, Proactive & Determined
Where do you see yourself within Suncorp in 3 years time?
Agribusiness Manager
How is the Suncorp Graduate Program preparing you for your future?
It has been a very good stepping stone from the transition of university to the workforce. It was very beneficial having a mentor step you through the systems and processes which occur within the bank and learn by a hands on approach. The module based training is also very valuable with many opportunities to do advanced training.

Why did you join Suncorp?
I wanted to work for a Financial Institution that wasn't bound by old fashion management styles, for an institution that had a lean management team who actually knew who I was. I was also looking to work with a well known company that had clear goals, a good brand name and massive potential for future growth.
Is life at Suncorp everything you thought it would be?
Very definitely. I have worked for other major companies in the Transportation and Export industries, and none of them have the levels of support from both above and within the team. I found working for Suncorp very refreshing, and love the energy of the people who work here.
What have you been up to since you joined?
I have only been with Suncorp for a short time, so a majority of this time I have spent learning the systems and meeting all of our customers in my portfolio. We have some great customers who truly share our spirit.
What's the best thing that's happened to you since you've been at Suncorp?
Receiving a personal email from the Executive General Manager welcoming me to the team and wishing me luck with my goals. For a company the size of Suncorp, I was amazed at the fact that someone so high up would spend the time to write to me, and actually care about who I was and what I was about to achieve.
What are some of the challenges you have faced?
Learning new computer systems and getting to know the people and issues that affect the Mackay district.
In three words, how would you describe your team?
Supportive, dynamic, enthusiastic
